Termites - These wood devouring creatures can be identified by their antennae which resemble a string of beads, differentiating them from ants. They also have a thicker mid section and wings that extended straight out from their bodies as opposed to ants, whose wings fold back in a parallel fashion. |

|
Bed Bugs - Small, flat insects (approximately 1/5 of an inch wide), bed bugs are nocturnal creatures that prefer to hide during the day. Common areas of infestation are mattresses and head boards an their bites are characterized by red spots or welts. They may also be accompanied by a sweet, musty odor. |

|
Spiders - The two most dangerous species are the Black Widow and the Brown Recluse. Their bites can be painful and may require extensive medical treatment. Neither will bite unless disturbed, so avoid them when possible. The Black Widow can be identified by the characteristic red hour glass on their underside and the Brown Recluse can be identified by the violin shape on their top. |

Wasps/Bees - These flying creatures come in a variety of colors such as yellow-striped, orange, brownish-red, and dark red. They are approximately an inch in length and will definitely sting you if disturbed. They build nests in protected locations such as eaves and roofs that resemble a honeycomb made of paper. |

Vermin - While some of these creatures look cute and cuddly, they can cause extensive damage to the structure when they make your home their home. Vermin like the raccoon will move into crawlspaces and attics to have their young and set up a home in a protected area. Threats like rabies and other diseases are a constant concern to humans and these creatures will also attack pets. Included in this group are rats, mice, opossum, and squirrels. |

Carpenter Ants - While they do not eat wood, carpenter ants burrow through it to make their home. Typically they are found in windows, bathrooms, eaves, and decks. While termite infested areas are packed with "mud", carpenter ants leave a trail of "sawdust" pointing the way to where they can be located. |

Roaches - These insects come in variety of shapes, sizes, and colors. They can vary from yellowish-brown to reddish-brown to black and can measure up to two inches long. They are a potential health hazard and live in areas where it is humid, warm, and near a food source, They can be found both inside and outside the home, especially in cracks and crevices. |

|
Nuisance Ants - A variety of ants such as Pharaoh Ants and Rover Ants fall into the category of "nuisance" ants. Their colors and body sizes can vary from golden-brown to black. These little guys live typically in the soil in gardens, around trees, and under concrete slabs. They are attracted to food and do not usually pose a threat to humans. |

Fire Ants - Probably the most destructive of ant species, fire ants can cause sever damage to buildings, structures, and crops. They can administer a sting that burns and can cause sever allergic reactions in humans. They are cranberry to black in color and can measure up to five millimeters. They infest playgrounds, parks, golf courses, and school yards. |

Other Invaders - Other insect invaders you may experience include pill bugs, millipedes, centipedes, earwigs, and springtails. Causing mostly a nuisance to your home and family, these insects can bite, pinch, damage plants, stain furniture and other household items, and generally cause unrest. |
